Western Watersheds Project et al. v. U.S. Forest Service, 08-01460 PJH (Forest Service Categorical Exclusions for Grazing)

Case Number: 08-01460 PJH
Filed on: 2008/05/30
Filed by: Klaus Hamm & Laurie Rule

Lawsuit challenging Forest Service's practice of excluding renewal of permits to graze livestock on the national forests from environmental review under NEPA.

Aug. 4, '10 - Parties enter into a settlement under which Forest Service agrees to prepare NEPA analyses for 23 allotments and conservation groups reserve right to challenge most other remaining CE decisions in subsequent litigation.

May 30, 2008 - ONDA joins WWP and eleven other conservation  organizations in amended complaint against Forest Service. Agency's practice of excluding permit renewals from environmental review under NEPA precludes meaningful public input and thorough analysis of the environmental impacts of grazing.
