Raise your voice for the Owyhee
Read this NYT article about the author's experience trekking through Oregon's Owyhee Canyonlands with ONDA staff.
Although the New York Times
article confirms what few lucky Oregonians already know, the Owyhee
Canyonlands is one of Oregon's crown jewels that deserves permanent
protection: deep riverine canyons, red rock spires and rolling
sagebrush; at 2.1 million acres, it's the largest conservation opportunity in the continental United States.
-
Send a note to Sen. Jeff Merkley encouraging him to begin the process of establishing permanent protection in the Owyhee.
- Write a letter to the editor of the Oregonian, sharing your personal experiences in the Owyhee, and asking our Congressional leaders to begin to protect this piece of Oregon desert heritage.
- Visit Oregon's Owyhee Canyonlands Campaign's NEW website to find out more about "Oregon's Grand Canyon;" get inspired to visit the area; and get involved in helping to protect it.
- Contact ONDA's Owyhee Coordinator Chris Hansen for more information or to get involved in helping to protect this magnificent area.
