Steens Travel Management Plan (ONDA v. McDaniel)
Case Number: Civ. No. 3:09-cv-369-PK
Filed on: 2009/04/10
This
lawsuit challenges BLM's travel plan for Steens Mountain, and seeks to protect the unique solitude and unfragmented sagebrush habitat of this iconic desert mountain. BLM's plan called for the "maintenance" of routes that were non-existent or overgrown while also failing to recognize and therefore give equal consideration to trails and routes used for non-motorized recreation. This case was filed to address these shortcomings in BLM's plan.
