Bear Creek Beaver Dam Analogue Building
July 5 @ 5:00 pm - July 8 @ 9:00 am
Thanks to ONDA volunteer’s hard work and reliability, we have been able to expand our relationship with Malheur National Forest and help with a new restoration project installing dozens of Beaver Dam Analogues on Bear Creek.
Work opportunities will vary greatly: Everything from using a hydraulic pounder to install wooden posts to cutting and weaving willow.
Highlights include being involved in what really is just fun work: Basically being an 8-year old kid building structures in water and splashing around, then being able to look back and see a huge change in the stream where you have been working.
Challenges: The harder, more physical jobs can be pretty exhausting, but you only need to do those if you want. Also, since the work involves machinery, there is noise and exhaust, but there will also be the opportunity to spread out so folks won’t need to work in close proximity if they don’t want to.
