Brothers Fence Trip #7

February 11 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Volunteers dig post holes at the Brothers fence build

Join ONDA to build fences and help sage-grouse.

This winter, ONDA has the opportunity to contribute to sage-grouse research by fencing off study plots focused on looking at different methods of forb recovery, critical food sources for sage-grouse. This project is near Brothers, about a 45 minute drive from Bend, and we’ll have several day trips to get these exclosure fences built.

To build the fences, volunteers will dig post holes, install wooden h-braces, run and tension wire, pound metal t-posts and clip wires onto posts.

The work will require walking over uneven ground for up to a quarter mile at a time, lifting, bending and carrying materials to the study sites. No experience required, we’ll teach all the fence building techniques you need to know. The work is fairly physical, this trip will focus on installing fence posts.
