Our High Desert Speaker Series continues with a voice from the next generation of conservation leaders. Erin Gaines will join us to share stories from her days working as an environmental advisor to Senator Ron Wyden and her current efforts to amplify the business case for conservation. Hear more about the most energizing aspects of advocacy in today’s ever-changing political reality and why Erin was inspired to bring her experience from Washington D.C. to advocate for increased landscape protection right here in Oregon.
About the speaker
Erin Gaines grew up in Wisconsin and received a BA in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. She graduated from Lewis and Clark Law School in 2011.She moved to Washington D.C. in 2013 and worked for Senator Ron Wyden from Oregon, starting out as a Legislative Correspondent managing constituent mail. In 2014, she became Senator Wyden’s Natural Resources Counsel, working on public lands, forestry, outdoor recreation, agriculture, and hunger issues. Erin started at KEEN as the Advocacy Manager in November 2017 representing KEEN on local, state, and federal policy issues and helping KEEN employees and fans make their voices heard. In her free time, Erin enjoys hiking, backpacking, learning to fly fish, Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger football, and exploring Oregon with her husband, Derek!
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the talk begins at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
