Fremont National Recreation Trail Work for National Public Lands Day

September 27 @ 5:00 pm - September 29 @ 12:00 pm

Help maintain the Fremont National Recreation Trail and Oregon Desert Trail (ODT) with volunteers from Lakeview on National Public Lands Day.

On this stewardship trip volunteers will use a variety of hand tools to clear and maintain trail tread on a scenic stretch of trail.

Volunteers will rehabilitate trail tread, remove obstacles and brush the trail corridor. No previous trail building experience is needed to attend this trip; ONDA will provide all instruction and necessary tools to do the job.

Trip highlights include spending time in the unique character and beauty of the Fremont National Forest and working with local residents to maintain the longest stretch of trail tread along the ODT route to improve conditions for a variety of users including hikers, bikers and horseback riders.

Challenges will be physically strenuous work at elevations around 6,000 feet.
