Rescheduled: Fremont National Recreation Trail Work
September 17 @ 5:00 pm - September 20 @ 12:00 pm
Enjoy hiking and working in a desert/forest transition zone for this trail maintenance project near Moss Pass on the Fremont National Recreation Trail and Oregon Desert Trail (ODT).
On this stewardship trip, volunteers will use a variety of hand tools to clear and maintain trail tread on a scenic stretch of trail, continuing the work volunteers completed in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Volunteers will rehabilitate trail tread, remove obstacles, install drainage structures and brush the trail corridor. No previous trail building experience is needed to attend this trip; ONDA will provide all instruction and necessary tools to do the job.
Trip highlights include spending time absorbing the unique character and beauty of the Fremont National Forest, and working to maintain the longest stretch of trail tread along the ODT route to improve conditions for a variety of users including hikers, bikers and horseback riders.
Challenges will be physically strenuous work at elevations around 6,500 feet and potentially hot daytime temperatures.
