High Lakes Fence Pull
October 4 @ 10:00 am - October 7 @ 12:00 pm
Obsolete barbed wire fences present barriers to wildlife movement and fragment landscapes.
On this stewardship trip, volunteers will help to remove an old temporary exclosure fence that is no longer needed.
Volunteers will use hand tools to remove barbed wire, fence posts and rock jacks from the landscape directly south of Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge. The group will establish a primitive campsite at the remote work location. No previous experience is required; ONDA will provide all necessary training in order to conduct the fence removal.
Trip highlights include incredible wildlife viewing, opportunity to explore a region rich in human history, and primitively camping in a remote location in the Greater Hart-Sheldon Region.
Challenges include varying tasks associated with fence removal, and working in weather that could range from shadeless heat to windy, rainy and cold.
