Jake Place Planting #2
October 11, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - October 14, 2018 @ 10:00 am

Our fifth year of a seven-year project using large-scale plantings to restore beaver habitat to 4.5 miles of the South Fork Crooked River.
This trip is the second of two trips in the 2019 season.
On this trip, you will plant potted root-stock along the bank of the river. Roughlyhalf of the plants will be planted by hand, while the other halfr will be planted into pre-augured holes. You can choose from a wide variety of tasks ranging in difficulty from un-potting plants to shoveling soil to constructing exclosure fences and cages around all of the plantings to protect them from deer, elk and beaver while they are getting established. You may also add cardboard mulching to help reduce weed competition.
Trip highlights include working in a beautiful and remote area where there are plenty of opportunities to roam and explore. You can enjoy the satisfaction of being involved with such a large-scale project which is now getting to the point where positive results can be observed.
While some tasks will be physically challenging, the wide variety of tasks of varying levels of intensity ensures there is a task for everyone. No experience required.
