Muleshoe Creek Planting

March 20 @ 5:00 pm - March 23 @ 10:00 am

ONDA is now in its second year collaborating with a private landowner on the restoration of the riparian habitat of Muleshoe Creek.

This spring we will complete the work by planting willows and cottonwood trees in the lower half of the watershed.

We will be adapting a novel planting technique pioneered on the upstream half of the watershed. Volunteers will be building small structures in the stream, to create locations to install willow and cottonwood slips (sticks). ONDA will provide all the tools and materials.

Highlights include being able to truly make a difference in a demonstration watershed by developing new planting techniques that will be applied throughout eastern Oregon streams. Challenges include likelihood of early-season cold and wet weather.
