Oregon’s hiking guru will take you on a slideshow tour of a dozen new trails he discovered while researching the third edition of his book, “100 Hikes/Travel Guide: Eastern Oregon.” Discover a colorful badlands on the Owyhee River, a new wilderness with cactus flowers on the John Day, and a viewpoint hike to a ranch at the east end of the Columbia Gorge. We’ll even explore half a dozen little-known hot springs. As always, Sullivan spices his talk with notes on the geology, wildlife and history of the land.

About the speaker
Bill Sullivan is the author of 20 books about Oregon, including “Hiking Oregon’s History” and the popular “100 Hikes” series. The Oregon Cultural Heritage Commission selected his journal of a 1,000-mile hike he took across Oregon in 1985, “Listening for Coyote,” as one of Oregon’s 100 Books— the 100 most significant books in the state’s history. He has also written five novels and a collection of short stories, “The Oregon Variations.”
