Discover the Oregon Desert Trail
April 12 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm$10
The Siskiyou Land Trust will host an Oregon Desert Trail presentation in Mt Shasta, California.
Do you need inspiration for that next backpacking trip? Join the Oregon Natural Desert Association for an introduction to one of the newest long distance routes in the country: the Oregon Desert Trail. This 750 mile adventure traverses some stunning natural features in the high desert like the Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge, Steens Mountain, and the Owyhee Canyonlands through a mixture of cross country travel, trail and two-track roads. Trail Coordinator Renee Patrick was the 10th hiker to complete the route, and will cover the basics of hitting the trail and share some stories from her section hiking & packrafting in 2016. Drawing on her 10,000 backpacking miles and recent triple crown accomplishment (completing the AT, PCT & CDT), Renee is applying all her knowledge and passion for trails to this new route
Much like the mission of Siskiyou Land Trust, the Oregon Desert Trail’s founding organization, the Oregon Natural Desert Association (ONDA) is devoted to protecting, restoring, and defending the landscapes in our identified region, eastern Oregon. The Oregon Desert Trail serves to introduce hikers and other adventurers to the landscapes ONDA is actively working to protect, and by spending extended time in the high desert, we hope to foster a deeper appreciation and connection to these important eastern Oregon areas.
