South Fork Crooked Riparian Planting
May 3 @ 5:00 pm - May 6 @ 5:00 pm
Our third year of large-scale riparian planting on the South Fork Crooked this spring.
In 2017 we completed the planting of the first 2 miles of the project area. This year we’ll begin planting willow and cottonwood slips as well as some potted plants along the next half-mile section. We’ll be following up with additional potted plants this coming fall.
Volunteers will be pounding sticks into the river banks within fenced exclosures and digging holes to plant potted plants.
Trip highlights include working in a beautiful and remote area where there are plenty of opportunities to roam and explore. Trip participants have also been very satisfied with being involved with such a large-scale project which is now getting to the point where positive results can be observed.
Trip Challenges: Planting can be hard work since it involves a lot of work on the ground. However, there is ample opportunity for people to pace themselves and take breaks.
