Save the Public Lands Rule

The Public Lands Rule is an innovative and vital regulation intended to conserve wildlife, wildlands, watersheds and cultural resources even where multiple uses are permitted on our public lands.

Nearly fifty years in the making, the Bureau of Land Management finalized the Public Lands Rule in 2024 to broad public acclaim. ONDA looked forward to working with other stakeholders to use the new policy to designate new conservation areas and protect and restore habitat across Oregon’s high desert.

Now, this promising new program is in jeopardy. The Trump administration is taking steps to rescind the entire rule before the end of 2025. Without the rule, resource extraction will continue to dominate all other uses of desert public lands, to the detriment of sage-grouse, wilderness, redband trout, recreation and future generations.

Please join us in opposing this damaging, short-sighted attack on the Public Lands Rule. Support conservation of Oregon’s desert public lands, waters and wildlife by adding your name below.
