Wilderness Stewardship Coordinator

Bio :

Michael joined ONDA in 2012. As the stewardship coordinator, he is fortunate to work with great volunteers and to work in many of Oregon’s best kept secrets, helping to protect and restore these landscapes.

Mike grew up near beautiful Astoria, but always felt slightly out of place on the rainy coast. He graduated with a degree in wildlife biology from the University of Montana, which gave him a taste of the mountain lifestyle. When he moved back to Oregon, he settled in Bend. In 2014, Mike and his wife left Bend to spend six months in Ecuador, teaching and then traveling over 4,000 miles along the spine of the Andes. Mike worked as a wilderness ranger in Wyoming before being drawn back to Bend.

These days, Michael spends his free time exploring his home state of Oregon on foot, bicycle, and, at times, by crawling with his young son.
