Ray Hartwell

Bio :

Ray Hartwell has years of experience in environmental conservation in Oregon and the western United States. He is the director of Summit Conservation Strategies, a consulting firm specializing in development and implementation of market-based conservation initiatives from streamflow restoration to energy efficiency. From 2008 to 2012, Ray managed energy efficiency programs for the Bonneville Power Administration, and prior to that had worked for several conservation organizations including the Deschutes River Conservancy. Ray consulted on economic and financial research for Cornerstone Research and taught statistics as an adjunct faculty member at New York University. He holds a bachelor’s in French and German from Williams College and a master’s in Public Policy from New York University.

Ray lives in Bend with his wife, their two sons, and their energetic dog. They enjoy skiing, climbing, hiking, and other outdoor pursuits in the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest. Ray joined the board in 2007 and has been president since 2015.
