Oregon Natural Desert Association (ONDA) is a nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to protecting, defending and restoring Oregon’s high desert.
OPEN POSITIONS:
The Hillis Internship is open to early career individuals with a demonstrated interest in ONDA’s conservation mission. The intern will be surveying and recording bird use at Lake Abert, supporting long-term monitoring efforts by two area expert ornithologists. They will develop a broad understanding of wildlife and water management, natural history, and legislative and administrative policies applicable to Lake Abert. The ideal candidate is an aspiring conservation advocate with some field experience, avian species identification skills and the patience to accurately conduct bird counts.
This a part-time, paid internship for 10 to 12 weeks beginning in June 2024. The opportunity will involve 8 to 12 hours of work per week in a remote outdoor location, including travel time. The intern will be paid at a daily rate, equivalent to $20/hour, based on scope of field work. Travel costs, equipment, supplies and training are provided by ONDA.
