McDermitt Creek Lithium Mine Site Visit
June 6 - June 9
Join ONDA to document the incredible habitat, wildlife, and cultural resource values in the McDermitt Caldera threatened by the potential McDermitt Creek lithium mine.
A potential massive, new mine near the Nevada border and just south of the Oregon Desert Trail would threaten to eliminate, fragment and degrade sagebrush habitat critical to the greater sage-grouse and streams inhabited by Lahontan cutthroat trout, in addition to a variety of other wildlife species.
This trip is an opportunity to contribute to important field surveys to document the intact landscape before further proposed exploration disturbs important habitat as well as flora, fauna and other resources in the area. The group will also discuss related advocacy opportunities in what will be a multi-year engagement on this issue for ONDA and our community. This trip is designed for those volunteers wanting to take their public lands advocacy to the next level!
