Anton Chiono

Bio:
Anton works on land conservation and river restoration in the Columbia Basin for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Prior to this, Anton focused on natural resource issues in government, academia, and the non-profit sector. This included research with the U.S. Forest Service in southeastern Oregon and policy work in Washington, D.C. for Senator Gordon H. Smith. While in the non-profit sector, Anton helped develop California’s cap-and-trade program and worked on New Zealand’s forest carbon market with the Climate Change Research Institute at the Victoria University of Wellington. Anton was raised in Summer Lake, Oregon and seldom finds his thoughts far from there.
