Gena joined ONDA as the Badlands Wilderness Coordinator in 2007. After the Badlands Wilderness Act passed in 2009, her role grew to cover more desert terrain in Central Oregon. Today she serves as our Public Lands Coordinator, which allows her to help protect all the wild desert lands she has grown to love.
Growing up in Portland, Gena enjoyed exploring the wetlands and rivers around her home. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science from Colorado College, which strengthened her passion for all mountain-related activities. Back in Oregon, she joined the Oregon Student Public Interest Research Group (OSPIRG) at Central Oregon Community College to organize voter mobilization campaigns, petition drives, and wilderness hikes for the wonderful COCC students.
When she’s not playing outside, Gena enjoys working on art projects (many unfinished), watching soccer, playing soccer, and cooking.
