Greater Hart-Sheldon Comment Writing Workshop
July 30 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Join Oregon Natural Desert Association’s Conservation Director Mark Salvo for a workshop on how to write compelling comments to conserve 3.2 million acres of public lands in the Greater Hart-Sheldon. The focus of the workshop will be the Bureau of Land Management’s draft Lakeview Resource Management Plan Amendment.
The Lakeview District Office is updating its management plan for this irreplaceable landscape as required by a 2010 legal settlement agreement with ONDA and our partners. This vital new plan will determine future management of Lands with Wilderness Characteristics, livestock grazing and off-road vehicle use throughout the region. Mark will detail why these three issues are important, how the Bureau’s draft plan proposes to address them and what improvements the Bureau could make in its final plan to best protect and conserve high desert public lands, waters and wildlife.
You will learn how to craft and submit relevant and substantive comments on the draft plan— before the September 5 comment deadline—that will be key to shaping the Bureau’s final plan to manage and conserve these resources for decades to come. Attendees will gain an understanding of what’s at stake, and how they can play a part in determining the outcome of this once-in-a-generation planning process.
This event is free and open to the public. Please register and join us for the workshop!
