Description

This hike is partially located in Fish Creek Rim Wilderness Study Area and offers great vistas, as well as neat stands of aspen and mountain mahogany. There is a healthy herd of bighorn sheep roaming the rimrock. Look for them while looking off the escarpment and they can also be seen hanging out along the Plush to Adel road. Fish Creek Rim is also called Lynch’s Rim on some maps.

Off-trail exploration can increase the difficulty of this hike.

Notes and Advice:

  • There are no trailhead amenities.
  • These roads aren’t all visible on the Oregon Road and Recreation Atlas so more detailed maps are required such as the Adel BLM 100k map.
  • It might be wise to get gas in Lakeview or up in Plush. The gas station in Adel has closed.

Driving Directions

From Plush, drive 6 miles west on the paved Plush Cutoff Road. Look for a dirt road 7105 on the left and take this south for 7.6 miles to a signed junction with the Cleland Springs Road. Park in this area. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended, and be aware that even a little bit of rain can turn this road into a muddy mess, so only travel on it when it is completely dry.
