October 27, 2025 – This month marks the 25th anniversary of the Steens Mountain Cooperative Management and Protection Act—landmark legislation that permanently protected southeastern Oregon’s incomparable Steens Mountain while also setting a national precedent for collaborative conservation and public land stewardship.
