Take Action by Friday, August 14 at 9 p.m. PDT
From Central Oregon’s Badlands to the Owyhee Canyonlands, and millions of acres of public lands in between, there are vast stretches of wildlands that remain ecologically intact and untouched by development. These unique areas are called Wilderness Areas, Wilderness Study Areas, and Lands with Wilderness Characteristics—and they are under threat.

The Trump administration is proposing to change how these irreplaceable landscapes are managed. This signals the first step in an attempt to weaken protections for some of Oregon’s most magnificent places, many of which are conserved due to decades of advocacy by the ONDA community.
Take action today to defend Oregon’s high desert! Submit your public comment before the deadline of Friday, August 14 at 8:59 p.m. PDT.

Key points to include in your comment:
- I oppose any revision to policies for consideration and management of wilderness on public lands that would weaken protections for Wilderness Areas, Wilderness Study Areas, Lands with Wilderness Characteristics, or recommended, proposed, and eligible wilderness.
- I recommend that any revisions to the BLM’s Manual:
-
- Mandate the preservation of finite and irreplaceable wildlands
- Emphasize how wilderness preservation also conserves wildlife habitat
- Require accurate information and science-based management
- Preserve the public’s role in wildlands management
-
