On the third and final trip to this location for the 2020 season, we will backpack out to a piece of privately owned land within the South Fork Crooked River Wilderness Study Area (WSA) to build a challenging, but important, fence around 80 acres on the river. This fence will accomplish many things. Denny Jones Ranch Restoration #2

This is the second of three restoration projects on Denny Jones Ranch, a conservation property owned by the Burns Paiute Tribe, that ONDA volunteers will participate in during 2020. ONDA has been working with the Burns Paiute Tribe to achieve their restoration goals for this property since 2015 and is encouraged by the impact of our collective efforts. Hay Creek Riparian Planting #1

Planting native riparian plants alongside recently installed beaver dam analogs (BDAs) on Hay Creek. This trip is the culmination of a season of preparation work: building BDAs to irrigate dry planting areas and building exclosure fences to protect plantings until they are fully established. Trip highlights involve the relative closeness of the project area to Portland allowing for day-trip access if desired, and being an integral part of a long-term effective restoration project with visible results and improvement.
